Three Sundays from now my wife and I will be among the teaming mobs of humanity who will swarm the track at Monza after the race. I’m stoked. I’ve been to Daytona, Indy and Le Mans (among other tracks) and I am excited to take in a race here. We’ve got seats on the front stretch and plan to walk the track on Friday. We have an apartment via AirBnB in town and have our train tickets from Nice all sorted out. I went on Twitter and got restaurant recommendations from Jason Swales, Will Buxton’s producer at the tracks, and they look great. Should be a fantastic time.

Jealous, I am. Green with envy. I haven’t had a vacation alone with my wife since the boys were born, let alone a trip to Yurp. Have fun. Will you be wearing red?

We are very lucky in that my mom is retired and she is more than happy to hang with the kids for a couple of weeks. I haven’t figured out what I will wear. I do have a Minardi European Aviation fleece that I picked up at Goodwood about 10 years ago that is one of my favorite bits of clothing and that will be coming along. I like the underdog teams, so maybe I will look out for some Force India gear...although McLaren would count as underdog this year so maybe a Button cap.

We’ve never had any family close enough to watch the kids. We’re in Texas, my dad and stepmom are in VA, and my mom is in NH. So no time with Nana while Mom and Dad are away.

I’ve been a Ferrari supporter since I started following F1, but I always pulled for Arrows and Minardi and the other back markers. And in spite of the fact that I rarely root for McLaren, the fact that they have two drivers I greatly respect, and the fact that they’re working hard and making progress, makes it hard not to support them.

Have fun!! I went to the Italian Grand Prix in 2013 when I was living in Como. It’s an awesome event. Be sure to drink lots of coffee (the cappuccinos are smaller but SO much better), and for lunch get a camogli from one of the sandwich trucks around the track (lots of train station bars have them too). It’s basically just a ham and swiss sandwich on focaccia, but my god is it so good.
